The second half of August was marked by a significant event for Londonskaya Hotel. Here came John Simenon – the son of the famous author of «Commissaire Maigret» – George Simenon who stayed at Londonskaya Hotel with his first wife – an artist Regin Ranshon, during his first visit to the Soviet Union in 1933. It was a memory visit for John who was willing to see those memorable places of Odessa that his father took pictures of long ago.
The hotel managers helped John to search all the places that could be seen in old photos, and he took wonderful pictures of new Odessa.
The honored guest had a pleasant stay at Londonskaya Hotel that combines modern comfort and rich historical traditions, and he left Odessa with exclusive gifts from the hotel.
The pictures from Mr. Simenon’s personal archive enabled to find out where George Simenon lived with his wife in 1933. From now on Room 202 has a memorable photo of the prominent guest.
